Lesson 9 Decision
Lesson 9: Decision
A decision is the moment when the possibilities in front of us are weighed against one another.
By this point, the mind is not starting from nothing. Conditions have shaped what is possible. Perception has shaped what we can see. Attention has narrowed our focus. Desire has given us something to pursue. Belief has shaped what we expect. Temperament influences how we respond. Emotion changes what feels important.
Now those forces meet.
We compare risk with reward, comfort with uncertainty, immediate consequences with future consequences.
Sometimes the answer appears instantly. Sometimes we hesitate because several possibilities remain powerful at the same time.
That hesitation matters.
It shows that decision is a process, not a single unexplained moment.
And decision is still not choice.
Decision weighs the possibilities. Choice selects one.
In Free Determinism, every decision carries the history of the observer who is making it.
Conditions → Possibilities → Perception → Attention → Desire → Belief → Temperament → Emotion → Decision
Everything before the decision helps shape what happens inside it.
And what happens inside it prepares the way for Choice.
